Little Orange Scarf! (and other fall fashions to discuss)

Do you find yourself doing things that you wonder, "Why am I doing this if its not necessary?" Like the fact that I'm wearing Apple earphones in my ears when I'm not even listening to any music...(takes them out.)

Anyway, this year has gone by SO fast. Like a child's growth spurt, you blink and the number 11 shows up in your face. 11 as in November. Holiday music. Pumpkin pie. Scary masks. Corn mazes. I always look forward to fall season, ready for the weather to cool so i have have a break from the heat and pedicures. Ready for cowboys, tights, and delishiously warm peacoats. This year, I'm finding more inspiration then ever before thanks to the new stores in our local mall and Target. Very inspiring. So what I plan to DIY/hustle from a needy bum to pay for/re-invent from my closet:

1. My wonderful circle scarf i FINALLY got from American ApparelAmerican Apparel. Took 3 months to get it, but the neon orange strangely goes with everything. And it's so big, i can wear it as a dress during the summer or tights now. The fabric is so thick, soft, and warm. Definally gotta invest in some more of these. Well, scarves in general.

2.Flowers. So feminine. Going to be on everthing. And it's not even spring yet.

Momma J wore this fabulous belt that had a huge rosette as a buckle...le sigh. I so am going to DIY that.

4. Little details such as hardware, sequinces, feathers, huge flowers, jewels, lace. Need I say more??

5. Shapes. From one extreme to the next. Bubble to flowing to mummy-tight.

6. Shoulders. Since they are my best body part. Pad them high. Hide one and show the other. One shoulder peeking out from a huge flower a la Carrie Bradshaw. Or a long exposed zipper.

7. Black and White. I've been really feeling these two combos together, since the simple pallet gives you the freedom to go completely bananas on your outfit. Providing you do it right.

8. Prints. Lepoard, polka dots, big florals, more graffics, oversize plaids-lumberjack style, and stripes of all sizes.

9.Shoes. I need them in general. Its hard for me to get some because I'm so picky with them.

I've had my eye on motorcyle boots for the last couple of years. The perfect ones at Target for $50 sold out but these ones at F21 will do.

10.Accessories such as broaches, cummberbunds, suspenders, headbands, and oversized bows. Inspiration from Etsy and LouLou Loves You.

11.Textures: Felt, tweet, satin, velvet. Beading.Tulle and cotton. Yummy stuff.

12. More DIY! Bleach, spraypaint, glittering, ripped. I'm going to make it fun and cool.

So what about you, darling? What are you hunkering for this winter?

Welllll.
It's been a month since I've posted.
Hm.
Well I've been busy. Really busy.

Been working @ the church office. It's cool. I like watching people coming and going all day. Makes me feel important to help others here too. Gotten a couple of complements on my work here. It feels good. J thinks that I know like, "The Scoop" on everything since I'm here all the time.
Nope. Just whatever I overhear is all I know. It's not much. Ha. But I'm not trying to listen to people's convos anyway.
Recently, I was asked to be a captain at the fireworks stand. Little did I know, how much work and stress it was. My schedule for the week of June 29th-July 4th looked like this:

7:30am: Wake up & get ready
8:23 am: get on the bus
9 am: arrive @ office, set up fireworks
5pm: start packing up
6:45: take the cash box to the office
7pm: go to the church for whatever activity is taking place
9:30pm: head home
10pm: go to bed

We finally picked up on sales on the Fourth. Finding help was like pulling teeth, but thankfully, people showed up when I thought nobody would. (Oh, me of little faith!) Indepenance Day was the craziest, busiest, fun-est holiday I've ever had. (I know, "fun-nest" is not a word, but I had to put that word in.)

We did all of the following on the Forth:

*have a bbq, mexican style (with corn tortillas and bbq sauce. mmmm.)

*a dip in the fountains downtown (you only live once right? I'm glad I did it.)

* went the opposite direction on a one way (luckly, there was little traffic)

*had a "ice cream drive-by" (according to A, who coined the term)

* popped some Pop-Its

*screamed, "Happy Forth!" to each other

*sold fireworks from the back of the church van

*tried to buy some Mexican Corn (unsuccessful with that attempt)

*almost got HIT by some flying fireworks

*temporarly trapped in an alley, fearing our lives

*hustled and sold a lot of big stuff that I thought wouldn't get sold

*apprecated the people who came to help me more

*thanked God for humble souls who did all the behind the scenes work

We sometimes can take for granted our church, especially if it's a well-established or large church. One must go back and thank God for those who do the little things to keep their church running smoothly. Or better yet, volunteer help at the office or the staff. Working the stand helped me realize these things, and help keep my spirit humble. It's not about having a big name in the church or being reconized. It's about serving the Lord and the church. So for these lessons learned, I'm thankful. Yes, I may have missed a week of social life, but in the end, I'm helping my church. And that makes me proud.

The weather outside is frightful/ But the indoor pool is so delightful...

Whew whee. It's getting hot in here, as Nelly would put it.

Last couple of days have been pretty eventful. They kinda run into each other, so busy they were. Let me give you a lowdown since I've been too lazy to blog about them. At least I Twittered them.

Friday: Praise Band practice, was slightly off key. Realized that I was one of two altos to be singing that night. Was slightly off key during service, had to share mikes w/ K afterward. (bumed about that. I hate sharing mikes.) Realized too late that I had black & white striped shoes on instead of S's shiny black ballet flats to sign in. Thankfully nobody noticed that or the fact my shirt kept rising up while signing.

Saturday: Finally managed to get a ride to the Amtrack station (lecture included by T) and get to Fresno for K's Fresno State graduation. Smarty skirt has a bachelors in Physics/Science something complicated. Will shorten the trip down for ya:

A. Got yelled at by a mean stranger, moved to sit by a cutie beach bum & sister. Made ride to Fresno more fun.

B.Killed my phone twittering about him on the way there. (S: Stop Twitttering about him if your phone is going to die!"). Too bad I left charger at her house.

C. Had to stop by Office Depot and buy one.

D. Rediscovered why I was glad to leave Fresno. (Too quiet and standard-strict. I felt I was dressed modestly, but I can imagine the gossip.)

E. Still had a good time anyway making strawberry pizza, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

Sunday: Good preatching by Elder M. "God. is gooodt." S, K's sister, warmed up to me, good eats at Dairy Queen or Foster Freeze, whatever. Left with bittersweet goodbyes. Boy, it did feel good to come back home. Bi-lingual service was off the HOOK.

Monday: Should have been called Dramaday for the first half of the day. Somebody was in a bad mood. Made two long trips to Joanns for spray paint that was too expensive and took forever to dry. (But at least i got to drive!!) Discovered that some shirts were swapped sizes, someone didn't get a shirt and somebody else got one who wasn't supposed to. But after that...

A. Played tennis with Cheeseburger and got darker in 2.5 seconds. Boo.

B. Played x amount of "I Never." M: "I never....played this game before." ha ha dork!

C. Got jealous (please don't ask why I did) over a certain boy shadowing a certain girl.

D.Wandered into an senior citizens' home. "I'm just looking for a bathroom!"

E. Got chewed out by Sister about our shirts: "I was promised one for this year and it never happened..."

F. Talked to ex. (!) That was uneventful. Except he finally got an black iPod Nano. Niiiiice.

G. Played in the park's playground untill 11 pm. I love parks at night, don't you?

Tuesday. What happened yesterday? Oh yeah. Drove Bro A's van to Rite Aid and M & I got strawberry ice cream. Gotta love Rite Aid for their ice cream. M got us in trouble by her dad about sleeves and standards. Which leads to...

Wednesday. Went to a class about job searching, met some cool people. Went shopping at Target for house stuff and spent 2,104.90. Was all paid for by social worker.

*yesssss* (closes eyes and pulls fist downward as one bent knee goes up.)

I can't wait to get my own pad! Oh thank God for Coco + Kelley. You gotta read her blog. Pure genious. Brother j preached about standards and basicly everything Brother A. had told M & I last night. Guilt ensues, but repentance makes things better. All in all, today was good. Nice and busy, the way I like it. How was ya'll's Memorial? Hope it was a good one. Well I've rambled on enough about me. Talk to you next time.

Going To The Beach Doesn't Always Have To Be Drama City, USA

Yesterday, finally got out of the casa n went to Macys. I turned in my resume, letter of recommendation and applied again. In Jesus' name I'll get a job there. That would be pretty nice.

But after that, it was PARTY CENTRAL, CA!!

*TOOT-TOOT*

(balloons everywhere and smiling faces)

I went to Santa Cruz! Yah!

I know, I know. I just went like, what? 2 weeks ago? But this time was much, much more fun and relaxing. No drama, no snotty-ness, no rubbing-it-in-my-face-that-I'm-broke, it was pure pleasure. A 10 out of 10.

Last time, I got slightly sunburned and darker.

This time, i got totally wet and buried in the sand. (Thanks M. For nothing.)

This week, it was just M, his little sister A, S and I. I wanted L to come, but she had school. (That nerd!!)

S and I after Macys' headed straight for M's house where we picked M & sister up, filled a white garbage bag up with various Frito-Lay chips and drinks and piled into red jetta. Poor baby creaked every time M made a turn.

We made fairly good time, it was about 5:30 when we got there. We got wet, S & M going out super far into the "contaminated" water (as so the posted signs said) while i watched. M pushed S down twice. We got him back but I got dragged down with him.

I remembered that I never did like the taste of saltwater. Tastes kinda like body fluids.

S: "Okay, I'm going to be brushing my teeth 5 times tonight!"

I nodded my head in agreement, thinking of my wonderful Oral-B Pulsar toothbrush. Is it wrong to absolutely love the feel of the brisles in my mouth? It feels so good. I just wanna chew on them for a little bit. (I know, I'm wierd. But you gotta try that toothbrush. You'll never go back to a regular toothbrush, I promise. Ugh. now I sound like some kind of toothbrush comercial. "Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back!").

Anyway, M managed to put sand all in my hair, and that took forever to get out. Punk. I tried to get him back when i buried him, but he kept his body held up in the hole untill we were almost done burying him. He got out quickly, while S, A & I all struggled to get out. He laughed at our failing efforts and remarked proudly, "I watched Saw."

Yeah, that kid definally knows how to torture somebody.

We left around 9 pm and realized as we were leaving, a local high school was having their PROM on the boardwalk! Slight jealously ensued. White stretch Hummers, pretty frocks, tuxs and long lines were outside as we drove by staring and I snapped as quickly as possible.

I manged to shoot a picture of a cute little group there. So cute they were! They were a little cauious, but willing. I have it as my screen saver on my phone right now. It makes me smile and hope that they had a great time without any bad expericences.

Made a quick stop at Pizza Hut-Stuffd Crust with pepperoni!-and headed home...showered @ 1 am and watched the new Smosh.

See, going to the beach doesn't have to be drama! Or expensive! I like that fact. So all in all, I feel happy. I needed that mini trip.
